Northshore Motel is a small, 12-unit motel, located in the beautiful city of Manistique, Michigan. During the ongoing process of repainting and redecorating of our rooms, we try to incorporate some of the U.P. experience. Whether through pictures we have taken during our travels across Michigan, or quilts chosen to help remind you that you are indeed in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, we hope you will leave with a sense of what this beautiful part of the country is about.
Northshore Motel is located on US-2 along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Across from the Manistique Boardwalk, Northshore Motel is a peaceful place to rest and watch the waves from your room, or walk the boardwalk.
We offer free internet access, air conditioning, flat screen cable TV, in room refrigerators, table and chairs,
coffee pots, hair dryers, and a beautiful view of Lake Michigan from every room. There is a microwave and toaster in the lobby, and two rooms are dog-friendly. We also offer the convenience of parking in front of your room and a large parking lot to accommodate boats and other large vehicles.
Manistique is lovely anytime of year.
Come in the summer and walk
the Boardwalk while enjoying the
southern breeze off of Lake Michigan.
Come in the autumn and
view the fall colors.
Come in the late fall and early
winter months, and watch the sunrise
directly in front of Northshore Motel
on Lake Michigan.
Come in the spring and watch nature
come alive in the U.P.
Anytime is a good time
to enjoy the north shore
of Lake Michigan
at the Northshore Motel.
The downtown section of Manistique is
located just off of US-2. Manistique has
preserved the feeling of yesteryear with
it's historic buildings and downtown shops.
One can appreciate the small town feeling
while visiting Manistique.
Manistique is home of Michigan's largest
freshwater spring, the Manistique East
Breakwater Lighthouse, and the Manistique
Boardwalk along Lake Michigan, just to
name a few of our attractions.
Pictured Rocks National Shoreline is
north of us. Fayette Historic State Park is
to our west. Seney National Wildlife Refuge
is north-east of us. Seul Choix Point Light
is a short drive to our east.
And Lake Michigan is directly
on the southern end.
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan
There is a saying, “The air is fresher north of the bridge”, and this is indeed true. Eighty-four percent of the U.P. is covered by forests which naturally cleans the air. Although we do have casinos, and also shopping malls in some of the larger cities, most folks don't come to the U.P. to enjoy the nightlife, the shopping, or any of the “big city life” experiences. They come to enjoy nature.
Much of the area has been preserved the way God intended it to be...thus the term “God's Country”. We are surrounded by some of the most beautiful lake shore you will find. You can drive for miles and see only trees and wildlife with a few houses along the way. The East side is known for Mackinac Island, the Lighthouses, and Tahquamenon Falls. The West side is known for The Porkies Mountain and its many sites of beauty. The North is known for Pictured Rocks, the spectacular Lake Superior Cliffs, and The Keweenaw Peninsula. The South is known for the beautiful drive along US-2 with its many views of Lake Michigan, its Lighthouses, and historic sites such as Fayette State Park and Kitch-iti-Kipi. In the midst of all that, are miles of wilderness, with wildlife to discover, 600 waterfalls to hike to, inland lakes to fish, and hiking trails to enjoy the quiet of nature and breathe the fresh air.
In the summer, you will encounter bugs...don't forget the Off!
In the winter, you will encounter snow...almost guaranteed!
But, anytime of year, you will be reminded of the beauty of God's Creation!
